Your elected Councillors are meeting this evening for our 1st Council meeting in November from 6:30pm at PHIVE, or you can watch online. The meeting has been brought forward (from the usual 2nd Monday of the month) due to the Local Government NSW conference taking place next week in the City of Parramatta.

Council Meeting Summary 6th November 2023

The agenda is smaller than normal, but still has a wide range of different matters for us to consider and decide on. Key items on the agenda include:

  • Reviewing options for the proposed Harris Park suburb boundary adjustment. This has come about due to a request by a developer to expand the boundary of Parramatta suburb to include their new apartments, which would further shrink Harris Park – already one of the smallest suburbs in the LGA and smaller than what is recommended by the Geographical Names Board NSW. The expected uplift in property value from changing the suburb boundary is well over $30m.
  • Report on Council’s use of social media over last year as well as Facebook advertising
  • Draft Land Dedication Policy that will provide a framework for managing the
    dedication of land to Council to ensure the acceptance of such land is in the
    public interest.
  • Naming of two currently unnamed lanes in North Parramatta
  • Advocacy regarding enrolments at Wentworth Point High School set to open in 2025
