Councillor Kellie Darley

Bringing a fresh, new community perspective and evidence based approach to City of Parramatta Council

Councillor Kellie Darley

I’m a respected community leader, who has been supporting families and other residents across the greater Parramatta area for many years through a number of initiatives. I’m Co-Founder and Owner of ParraParents, an online community and guide helping families who live, work and play in the Parramatta area to discover wonderful things to do together. Over 800,000 people use the ParraParents website each year and there’s an engaged audience of 30,000 ParraParents on Facebook.

After listening to the hopes and concerns of the Parramatta community and advocating for improvements to community infrastructure over the last 8 years, I decided to stand to become a Councillor at the City of Parramatta Council, in the Dundas Ward (where I live), at the 2021 elections. I wanted a seat at the table to influence the decisions of Council, make sure families and our community are far better represented and build on the positive impact I’ve already had in our community. I’m extremely grateful that with the support of thousands of residents, I was elected and already improving transparency, engagement with our community and the liveability of our city – bringing fresh perspective and evidence based approach.

I’ve been honoured to be awarded Parramatta Woman of the Year (2020) and City of Parramatta Volunteer of the Year for the Australia Day Awards (2019) for my contribution to our city.

Prior to running ParraParents (and taking a career break to raise my two children), I held leadership roles in public health and community development for over 20 years. My specialties include managing and engaging diverse people, designing solutions, strategic planning, leading complex projects, problem solving, utilising technology, data analysis and streamlining processes.

My career is backed by extensive education, including a Bachelor of Economics (majoring in marketing) from Macquarie University, Master of Arts in Applied Anthropology and Development Studies from Macquarie University and Master of Public Health from Sydney University.
